Remember the hype about crazy flash-drive designs a couple of years ago? Well, today we need more than just a device resembling food and marvel characters. Of course, cute stuff is not going anywhere, but it’s not as surprising as it used to be. However, the flash drive market is blooming. It’s just that the accent has shifted from designs to functional abilities and smart ideas. Here, we’ve collected the flash drives that still can surprise you on the edge of 2015.
A good flash drive is a fast, secure and handy one. Speaking about security, if you are not ready to go for top solutions but still feel a bit paranoid about that hacking threat, you can consider buying Kingfast U2 Series Encrypted Safe USB Key. The drive reminds a regular TV remote controller, it has two rows of buttons on the front panel, but the idea here is the following: you have 6 seconds to enter the password after you press the unlock button. The reading speed reaches 20 MB/s, which is not too impressive, but the real-time data encryption compensates the shortcoming. Needless to say, the drive is waterproof, shock- and dust-proof. But we also get this: it has the algorithm that automatically destroys all the data after you enter the password incorrectly 10 times. You better write that code down.
Looking for something speedier? Take a glance at the leader in the category: Sandisk Extreme flash drive. It has a usb 3.0 interface and can read over 200 Mb/s and write at almost the same speed. The design does not impress that much, but who cares? You get a really fast device at a rather reasoned price (about $63 for the 64 Gb version).
Want to return to the hippy era imagining yourself in a crowd at Woodstock? Well, while the time machine is still being elaborated, you can go for this cute flash drive from Volkswagen line of usb drives resembling their most famous car models including beetle and the minivans.
We’ve all seen tons of eco-themed wooden flash drives. But this one has gone a step further: it easily transforms into a wooden disk of unknown purpose. Has to be pretty nice on the touch as well. The interface is usb 2.0, but it’s all about the design. It can easily become a good promo gift.
And here we have Sandisk again. Seems that they’re taking the flash drives seriously. The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive offers up to 64Gb of space. The main advantage is the ability to transfer photos to your device wirelessly without any internet connection. However, you’ll need a specific app on all the devices to access your files. It can stream from 3 different devices at a time.
Here’s a hero of classic animated series we all know. Take Tweety to work, and you won’t get sad again. Definitely the most optimistic flash drive!
The last but not the least is the Nota Musical Flash Drive. Every time you plug it in, it plays a melody your customer won’t forget ever. Choose your jingle or a song you like and give it as a present.
The mind-blowing Nota – USB flash drive designed in the form of a musical note.
Any time you connect flash device to your computer, smart Nota would play company sound logo, jingle or any other preset tunes you want it to play.
Nota is produced from sleek durable plastic and comes with cool LED logo area lighting. Obviously, it looks like a gift of premium class.

When companies spend their dollars on promotional products, they hope to fulfil an important goal: make the customer remember them. But how to fit the taste of the clients? Are people getting what they want?
According to the 2011 PPAI research, two most popular categories people like are products that can be consumed (like food sets) and those that can be worn. Yes, it’s those t-shirts and caps again. Things like notebooks, briefcases and other items that help you collect and convey things as well as the items for communication stand strong, but they gained a little less of people’s attention in this survey.
What about the logo?
The fun thing is that the opinions on branded or generic items were divided almost into halves while only 7 percent of respondents said they would rather go for a non-branded gift. That shows quite an interesting perception: almost half of customers actually do want to have a logo on a gift. Why? Some answers included the ideas that logoed gifts have more value and that it indicates the care towards the client.
Cheap or posh?
When it comes to the price, the clear majority of respondents said they were satisfied with the items between $10 and 24.99. That actually indicates an important fact that the promo products have to be somewhere in the middle between too expensive personalized products and super cheap pens. That creates a right impression and does not raise the price of that impression too high.
What do they keep?
Finally, what makes the product stay in use for a long time? The main factor here is utility. Again, that shows why the shirts are so popular. They can be used frequently, they are functional, they often have logos.
If the company is a respected and big one, having an item with a logo on may also create a feeling of involvement. Wearing that thing allows you to convey the following idea: ‘Look, I have something to do with this really important company’.
As you can see, there’s no need to spend a fortune on promo gifts, but still, it is very important to pick things people can use and those that feel good to be used. You need to keep in mind that a good promo product can be handed to others, which is great for the company. Thus, you have to keep the quality high enough.
Inexperienced companies seem to want to fill any inch of free space on their promo items with the logo. But that reminds of a teenager getting access to makeup for the first time. We don’t need that full-face awesomeness reminding of a Halloween party, neither do we strive for looking immature to the customers. Besides, there’s so much to put on your promo item that can be even better than the logo itself.
One of the most popular additives to the logo is a QR code. It can even replace the logo all along as the link will lead the customer (or any curious person) to the site you’ve chosen for them. Codes tend to be a pretty efficient and can serve you a good turn in case you’re giving the promo items to popularize an event. They also have this interactive feel, which can be appreciated by more tech-loving part of the audience. Just think of that successful campaign launched by Taco Bell. They placed qr-codes on certain products inviting customers to get free downloads of the Video Music Award content. Result? They collected diverse information about the users, promoted the brand and attracted attention to the fact that they were sponsoring the Video Music Awards, which was the initial goal of the campaign. So what prevents you from doing the same with your business? Add some qr-codes to your promo items to announce the event and get even more brand awareness. However, think of the target audience beforehand: seniors may not find of the idea helpful.
Events and Dates
Also, if you’re about to conduct an event, you can add the date to your promo gift. Give the items at the event to make it even more memorable or spread them beforehand to invite people. Many charity campaigns and marketing events are glad to give promo products on these days as they stay with people for long. You can mention the name of the holiday or event you are promoting. The number of causes is endless: from health campaigns to sales in shops to political rallies.
You can combine several messages on your product turning it to a really handy visit card. Just stay within the reasonable limits and imagine yourself in the shoes of your customer. This has to look good, too).
